luxanna, or lux as she prefers to be called is the daughter of one of the most prestigious families in demacia - the crownguards. while demacia considered itself a shining beacon of home for humanity, if you were a mage you wouldn't be so lucky. for those that were unlucky enough to be born a mage, they would be persecuted and sent to rot in a prison.if not for the fact that luxanna was born to the family she was born it, it might have been the same for her. luxanna didn't come to terms with her powers right away, and once she realized she had them she could only practice in secret. in the dead of night in forests, where nobody would be able to find her. for a long time, she hated that she had these powers.during this time of trying to conceal her powers, luxanna worked for the illuminators. a group of people that helped the sick or poor. it is while she is assisting them that she learns of a stash of books that the mageseekers keep on magic, and she goes to this library of books to try to learn of a way to get rid of her powers. only to come out empty handed.not long after this, she learns of the prison where mages are being kept. this is where she first meets sylas - and begins to visit him fairly often, so that she could learn how to control her powers, not even the slightest bit aware that he was stealing power from her with each visit.sylas breaks out of prison, freeing all the other mages that resided there and starts a revolution that led to many casualties, including the death of demacia's king. during this time lux did her best to try to convince as many mages as she could to not team up with sylas, and instead escape with her to a safer place. one of the mages that she saved gave her the staff that she uses to this day.while sylas may have escaped that day, lux made a promise to herself that she would be the one to deal with him when that time came. until that time came, however, luxanna was traveling and aiding any mages she found along the way - all while learning more about her powers.
